Tigettes kick their way into a new season

The Tigettes are currently in the middle of their competition season. They have a busy season ahead, with their next competition on Dec. 1 at the high school called ASCE.

Junior Aaron Walker has been in Tigettes since she moved to Broken Arrow 4 years ago.

“Being a member of the Tigettes allows me to explore my love for dance while giving me a team of sisters at the same time,” Walker said. “My favorite part about competition is the energy when we perform.”

The team recently competed at regionals for Dance Team Union at the high school. The varsity team placed second in kick, sixth in pom, and second in the seniors dance. While JV placed third in JV Pom and first in JV Kick.

“My favorite part about competition is getting to show all of our hard work out on the floor,” sophomore Ashten Low said. “It is such a great feeling to walk off the floor knowing you just killed it. I like being in Tigettes because I love dancing, performing, and my amazing teammates.”

Senior Meghan Brown has been in Tigettes since she was in eighth grade. She joined because she loves how spirited the Tigettes are and she loves to dance.

“My favorite part of Tigettes is being able to express myself through dance,” Brown said.

Chloe Rhoads is also a senior this year and has been dancing with the Tigettes for one year. She enjoys competing with the team, and her favorite thing to compete in is pom.

“I’m extremely competitive, so I love that we are fighting for first,” Rhoads said. “We practice and change a lot so we can make the dances more complicated and competitive.”

The Tigettes will be attending Nationals on February 1-5 in Orlando, Florida.
