Join FCCLA to gain leadership skills

Family Career & Community Leaders of America, or FCCLA, is an organization that helps students gain leadership skills and improve in school as well as an individual. This organization is for students who are or have been enrolled in a Family and Consumer Sciences Class.

In FCCLA students do things such as the blessing box to help people in need with clothing items. These students also do other events such as Christmas parties and attending meetings.

Brittany Klinck has been a sponsor of FCCLA for 5 years. Some of the classes she teaches are Parenting and Child Development, Marriage and Family Life, and a Career Orientation. In this organization, students meet new people, help out the community, participate in competitive events, and go on field trips.

“One of my favorite parts of being a sponsor of FCCLA is seeing how students grow as individuals and step out of their comfort zone while becoming leaders,” Klinck said. “We have some incredible students on this campus so I love getting the opportunity to help encourage and support them.”

FCCLA president, Lauren Floyd, has been in this organization for 2 years while helping others in the community and getting know more and more people.

“This organization is a great way to meet other students,” Floyd said. “The activities are always fun and it helps prepare you for your future.”

Senior Mike Motley has been in FCCLA for half a semester and help plan many events.

“My favorite thing about FCCLA is being able to be a leader and helping students achieve what they care about most,” Motley said. “Students should join because I feel like it is a great way to show people that you are a leader.”
