As the baseball season approaches, the Tigers are preparing to start the season off strong. Coach Shannon Dobson is ready to start the new season and hopes to get a shot at the state championship. Focusing on doing all the small things correctly and performing well is at the top of the list for the baseball team this year.

Our goals for the season are always the same, to work throughout the season to get better every day to set ourselves up for a run at the State title,” Dobson said. “Our main focus is to work on the fundamentals and be able to execute the little things that make a big difference in the game.”

Senior Manny Ramirez is ready to encourage his teammates to play well during the season. He is hoping to play well for his team and to have the chance at playing in the state championship.

“I love having the chance to go out on the field and play the sport I love and represent not only the school but the entire city of Broken Arrow,” Ramirez said. “I’m prepared to help others around me get better on and off the field, and hopefully to be able to win games and get a ring.”

Junior Isaiah Keller who is also playing on the varsity baseball team this year and is looking forward to stepping up to the plate this upcoming season, and is hoping to improve his game as well.

“My personal goal this year is to be consistent and of course as a team, our goal is to win the state title,” Keller said. “My favorite part about playing baseball is hitting, and being focused on improving and not being worried about anything else around me.”

Varsity baseball scrimmages started on Feb. 11th, and their first regular season game is an away game at Union on March 1.
