The XX recently released their third studio album I See You on Jan. 13. The British electronic indie rock group has gradually gained popularity since their debut in 2009. While the trio maintains its remarkability, the album only furthers the trio’s complexity and distinctive sound that is The XX.
Romy Madley Croft, Jamie Smith and Oliver Sim, The XX, has had an immense influence on indie and electronic music alike. Since their start, their music has consistently gained popularity from all across Europe to climbing indie charts within the United States. This popularity has given the band to produce better music that only better depicts the emotional purpose that the group emphasizes.
The album takes a more electronic approach than its earlier productions, however, it also has a more vibrant tone than before. With passionately charged production of some tracks alongside the intensely upbeat additions is the expansive breadth of the band’s ability. Though indie has become extremely popular in the past few years The XX has been one of the pillars that many groups have attempted to replicate. Despite this, the group has still found a way to keep their distinction and relevance as artists. Overall the album has only acted as proof of the music group’s talent, which would be worth a listen for anyone.
There has been some talk of a Spotify Session or live performance album as the group announced a widespread European tour. The album is available on Spotify and iTunes.
