This is the third year of senior sunrise, and it is a symbolic event that shows the beginning of high school for seniors. This event is a chance to meet new people that are going through senior year and see the symbolism of the sun rising on people’s senior year and the opportunities it brings.

“Just like the sun rises each morning to begin a new day–one that we will never have again–the sun rising on their senior year is symbolic because they will never have another senior year of high school,” Senior Board Sponsor Shelly Swisher Senior Board Sponsor said.

Seniors met in the student union to have donuts and hear a speech by Nathan Hubbard and a poem by Bailey Vought. They then headed to the football field to hang out and watch the sunrise to start their year.

“I went to senior sunrise because I love the symbolic meaning of the sun rising in our senior year, marking the beginning of a great year,” senior Annie Kramer said. “My favorite part of senior sunrise was the donuts and being able to go to fun events just for seniors.”

At the end of the year, around graduation time, there will be a senior sunset event, where the seniors will watch the sun go down and celebrate the end of their high school career.

“The thing I am most excited for during senior year is the senior exclusive events,” senior Macey Morgan said. “I spent my junior year watching all my senior friends go have fun and make memories, so now it’s my turn to experience that.”

There will be senior-only events happening throughout the year to create opportunities to make memories. Later in the year, a senior skate night and a senior egg hunt will be hosted by the Senior Board.
