On Jan. 10, senior board hosted a senior skate night at BA Roller Sports. The theme of the event was a 90’s dress up theme, chosen because this senior class is “the last generation of 90’s kids.”
“Senior skate night was a really unique idea that brought all my friends together to act like kids again,” senior Shelby Pickel said.
With about 130 attendees, seniors got the opportunity to have a flash from the past. The skating rink used to be the hangout spot during middle school, and throughout the night students entered the building with conflicting feelings about the rink.
”I forgot how fun it was to skate,” senior Lesliee Medina said. “I guess in a way we went in a full circle, by finishing school at the same hangout as we started at. It was a lot of fun hearing the old music and just enjoying everything out there.”
And to top off the night, some students participated in a race on the skating floor to see who the fastest senior at BAHS was. Both seniors Emily Frank and Corbin Knox took home those honors.
“Racing against everyone was exhilarating,” Frank said. “I became incredibly nervous as I watched all the guys race, but I decided to just work out the nerves by going as fast as I could during the final race.”
By the end of the night, seniors had finished their first of many events senior board has planned for them throughout the year.
“In addition to senior skate night, senior board is looking into planning more events for seniors like a school-wide scavenger hunt, senior skit, senior sunset, and lots more, ” senior called president Alexis Bagrosky said. “I’m so excited for the rest of this school year.”
