For many high school students, sports is an everyday part of life. As a captain of the Broken Arrow Volleyball Team, Kallie Fenscke is hoping to lead the team to a state championship. She is a senior this year, and being a captain on the team is very important to her.

“It is such a blessing to be captain. I love leading my team,” Fenscke said. “Every single girl on the team means so much to me and I’m so honored to be the one they look to.”

Fenscke also has goals for the volleyball team that would make her senior season a memorable one.

“My goal for this season is to win state,” Fenscke said. “If we keep working hard and working as a team we can definitely do it,” Fenscke said.

Being on the same team and competing against other people can improve teamwork as well as friendships. Teammate Kailey Hathhorn’s relationship has grown with Kallie as they have played volleyball together.

“Kallie believes in her teammates and cheers us on,” Hathhorn said. “We have grown to be really good friends, and I enjoy being on the same team as her.”

Kallie’s teammates are lead by her attitude and examples that she sets.

“Kallie has a winning and positive attitude, and I realize that I can count on her on and off the court,” Alyssa Smith said.

Although team sports can be very competitive and teams can be focused on winning, they can still teach valuable lessons that can be used throughout the rest of your life. Being a captain on the volleyball team has taught Kallie lots of different values.

“I have learned to work hard no matter what,” Fenscke said.

The volleyball team has several home games left this season. Their schedule is available at batigersports.com.
