AP Club allows students who are enrolled in AP classes extra time to complete homework assignments, participate in group study sessions, periodic stress release events, and other activities that help them throughout the year.

“AP students are taking the most challenging classes on our campus, and they typically have a lot of homework and study much more than average high school students,” social studies teacher, Gina Lepp said. “AP Club offers students a support network on our campus.”

Mrs. Lepp, along with social studies teacher Dorene Christiansen, are the sponsors for AP Club. The club meets every Wednesday, with occasional officer meetings on Fridays before school in Mrs. Lepp’s room, D270.

“In AP officer meetings, we plan out how to make life easier for AP students and in study groups, we get together for help with AP classes or to study for the AP test,” Vice President Destiny Sanders said. “There are also fun stress-relief activities, such as yoga and game night.”

AP Club offers many benefits to students currently enrolled in AP classes.

“AP Club helps with writing strategies and how to be successful in a class,” Christiansen said. “We also offer one on one help with teachers that come to the study sessions and also we have a great relationship in building morale and encouragement throughout the year.”

At the end of the year, AP Club holds a spring banquet where students are celebrated with a dinner and an award ceremony. During this event, teachers hand out rewards to their best students to acknowledge their hard work.

“At the Banquet last year I won the Award of Excellence for AP U.S. Government,” Sanders said. “I am also proud to be an AP scholar with distinction.”

For more information on how to join AP Club, please attend the next meeting on Nov. 7, or visit Mrs. Lepp in room D270.
