Although the world we encounter in today is always setting new trends and coming up with new ideas, the love for music is the constant in an ever-changing world. Music has absolutely no limit, it can be turned on at any time of the day, and most people can agree that music can make everything feel just right in moments of need or just a time to feel relaxation.

But, why? Why is the love for music so strong, and why do we get emotionally attached to these perfectly pieced together melodies that we call “music”?

Music gets inside of the body and can change everything-it’s magical. It’s quite strange how one second a person can be feeling unmotivated, down, and depressed, but then just one song comes on and everything is a lighter and happier. At a big party, music is always the number one factor making the night a fun and wild environment. Every body just stops caring instantly about their crazy life, and they focus on having fun and singing along to the music.

“I love music because it lets me escape the world. For those few minutes I am just concentrating on the words and nothing else,” junior Sara Alfero said. “Nothing matters except the words of the song and how I feel in that moment in time.”

Saying that there are millions of songs/artists/bands out there is an understatement. There’s rock, country, hip-hop, pop, metal, retro, alternative, and others. Considering the fact that music can be listened to by anyone, it is mainly used to express one’s feelings and personality.

“I like to listen to rap music because it just gets me pumped, but when I am feeling a little down I like to go for the gooey love songs,” junior Lika Katsiashvili said. “It just depends on what mood I’m in that day.”

Listening to an old song can bring back so many feelings and memories. The power of an old song can trigger vivid memories that seem to take us right back in time and space. The songs we love become embedded into a circle inside of our mind and body related with the people, seasons, and locations throughout our lifetime.

“It’s always a weird thing hearing a song that I used to be obsessed with in like fifth grade. If I hear the song now, I get the exact feeling I did then and it brings back so many feelings. Music is a strange thing,” sophomore Elijah Parks said.

Music can be astonishingly useful for countless things and it’s one of the few things on this earth that will always be around. This isn’t a trend, a new invention, a product or expensive. It’s something every person on this planet can get into.
