Enrollment for the 2018-2019 school year is due soon, so it’s time to start thinking about your electives. Here is a list of available electives:

Creative Writing & Advanced Creative Writing:

  • Creative Writing is for those who would like to pursue writing as a career in the future. It is a one semester class for 9 through 12 grade students.
  • Advanced Creative Writing helps students develop a strong writing technique. This course is also 1 semester long and is available for 10 through 12 grade students.

Psychology and AP Psychology:

  • Psychology is a course that teaches about disorders, intelligence, personalities, and more in people.This is a one semester course for 11 and 12 grade students.
  • The AP course teaches similar things to the original course as well as a college course. This course is 2 semesters long available for 11 and 12 grade students.

Sociology:

  • Sociology teaches human behavior and how people react to different things. It is available for 11 and 12 grade students and is 1 semester long.

Criminology:

  • This course teaches students about why people commit crime and what their punishment will be as well as many other things. This is a 1 semester course available for 11 and 12 grade students.

Law I & Law II:

  • This course teaches the basic principles of law and focuses on criminal law and criminal justice. It is a one semester course available for 9 through 12 grade students.
  • This course teaches about contracts and the students legal rights and responsibilities as well as many different family contracts. It is a 1 semester course for 9 through 12 grade students as well.

Competitive speech I, II, III, & IV:

  • There are many different competitive speech classes in the High School. These courses create better competitive speaking, acting, and public speaking skills along with others. This is a 2 semester class for 9 through 12 grade students.

Competitive Debate (lincoln/douglas & public forum) I, II, III, IV:

  • Competitive debate (lincoln/douglas) gives students competition and debate skills. This is a 2 semester class for 9 through 12 grade students.
  • Competitive debate (public forum) is quite the same thing, however, there will be more research and two on two debates in this class. This is a 2 semester class for 9 through 12 grade students.

Yearbook I, II, III, & IV:

  • The students taking these courses will work on writing, editing, and layout design for the yearbook. This is 2 semesters and offered for 9 through 12 grade students.

Newspaper I, II, III, & IV:

  • These students work on differents types of writing, editing, and layout design for the school newspaper. This course is 2 semesters long offered for 10 through 12 grade students.

TigerTV:

  • The students participating in this class will work on the pulse and tiger tv. They will learn how to shoot, edit, host, and produce media, as well as editing, lighting, audio, and studio. This is a 2 semester class available for 10 through 12 grade students.

BAHS Pulse (Digital Media):

  • These students will be working on many creative projects including Mandatory Monday videos and more. This is a 2 semester class for 10 through 12 grade students.

Sports Media:

  • This class helps students get involved by producing live sports events, assisting in studio sports shows, and promoting tiger athletic events. This is a 2 semester class for 10 through 12 grade students.

Documentary film:

  • In this class, students will learn about filmmaking techniques, how to produce short films, editing and more. This is a 2 semester class available for 10 through 12 grade students.

Art appreciation; Foundations of Art 1 and 2; Drawing 1:

  • Art appreciation will study periods of art and modern art.
  • Foundations of art 1 focuses on elements of design. They will work with design, color theory, painting, sculpting, and drawing.
  • Foundations of art 2 is mainly the same thing, however, they will add skills such as printmaking, mixed media, and ceramics. These three courses will be 1 semester long and will be available for 9 through 12 grade students.
  • Drawing 1 will build on pre-learned drawing skills. This is 1 semester long available for 10 through 12 grade students.

Printmaking I; Painting I: Mixed Media I; Sculpture I; Ceramics I:

  • Printmaking will teach students about basic printmaking skills.
  • Painting will help students build on their painting skills. They will work with acrylic and watercolor paint.
  • Mixed media will help students build on skills as well. This class will go through many creative techniques with multiple mediums.
  • Sculpture will focus on three-dimensional objects.
  • Ceramics will focus on hand-building skills. All of these courses are 1 semester long for 10 through 12 grade students.

Pre AP Art 2; Pre AP Art 2 3D Design; Studio Art Drawing; AP Studio Art: 2D Design; AP Studio Art: 3D Design:

  • Pre AP Art 2 will focus mainly on drawing, 3D design, and 2D design. This is a 2 semester class for 10 through 11 grade students.
  • Pre AP Art 2 3D Design will help students develop the Breadth section of the Pre AP Art 2 3D Design portfolio. This is a 2 semester class for 11 grade students.
  • Studio Art Drawing will require students to do college level work. This is a 2 semester class for 11 and 12 grade students.
  • AP Studio Art: 2D Design also does college level work on the elements of art and the principle of design. This is a 2 semester class for 11 and 12 grade students.
  • This is also very similar to the others however it works with three-dimensional space. This is a 2 semester class for 11 and 12 grade students.

Drama II; Drama II (advanced); Drama III; Drama III (advanced):

  • Drama II will work with on stage movement, characterization, and more. This is a 2 semester class for 10 and 11 grade students.
  • Drama II (advanced) is similar to drama II, however, it goes at a faster pace. This is a 2 semester class for 10 and 11 grade students.
  • Drama III works with character complex, script analysis, and the refinement of acting technique. They will perform comedy, tragedy, musicals, and others. This is a 2 semester course for 11 grade students.
  • Drama III (advanced) is similar to drama III, however, it goes at a faster pace. This is a 2 semester course for 11 grade students.

Acting styles; Theatre Production:

  • Acting styles studies different play genres. Students will work on farce, high comedy, Shakespeare, musical theatre, and greek tragedy. This is a 2 semester course for 11 and 12 grade students.
  • Theatre Production gets students to participate in plays and helps students widen their knowledge of acting. This is a 2 semester course for 12 grade students.

Concert Band; Symphonic Band; Wind Ensemble; Tiger Pride Marching Band; Jazz Ensemble; Symphony Orchestra; Chamber Orchestra:

  • Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble are all 2 semesters long available for 9 through 12 grade students.
  • Tiger Pride Marching Band is a corps-style marching band with pageantry styles. It is a 2 semester course for 9 through 12 grade students.
  • Jazz Ensemble is an advanced ensemble that runs over the topic of improvisation and different types of jazz techniques. This is a 2 semester class for 11 and 12 grade students.
  • Symphony Orchestra is an advanced level class that teaches string orchestra repertoire. This is a 2 semester class for 10 through 12 grade students.
  • Chamber Orchestra is a performance group of the finest orchestra repertoire. This is a 2 semester class for 10 through 12 grade students.

Women’s Choral Union; Men’s Choir; Vocal Jazz Choir; Chamber Choir; Tiger Mystique – Women’s Show Choir; Tiger Rhythm – Show Choir;  Women’s Chamber Choir; Treble Acapella Choir; AP Music Theory:

  • Women’s Choral Union works on many different types of music. This is a 2 semester class for 9 through 12 grade students.
  • Men’s Choir is an all men’s choir that works on the same style of music. This is a 2 semester class for 9 through 12 grade students.
  • Vocal Jazz Choir will teach students to perform ensemble, solo, and scat. This is a 2 semester course for 10 through 12 grade students.
  • Chamber Choir is an advanced vocal choir. These students perform classical, folk, jazz, and pop. This is a 2 semester course for 10 through 12 grade students.
  • Tiger Mystique – Women’s Show Choir is an all women’s choir focused on singing and dance. This is a 2 semester class for 10 through 12 grade students.
  • Tiger Rhythm – Show Choir focuses on the same things, however, it is for all students.
  • Women’s Chamber Choir is an all female choir that focuses on classical, folk, jazz, and pop. This is a 2 semester course for 10 through 12 grade students.
  • Treble Acapella Choir will help students perform literature, solo, and scat. This is a 2 semester class for 10 through 12 grade students.
  • AP Music theory will study many different types of music. This is a 2 semester course for 11 and 12 grade students.

Beginner Dance; Intermediate Dance; Advanced Dance:

  • Beginner Dance teaches ballet, modern, tap, and jazz. This is a 2 semester class for 10 through 12 grade students.
  • Intermediate Dance teaches upper-level dances. This is a 2 semester course for 11 and 12 grade students.
  • Advanced Dance builds on beginning dance. It is a 2 semester class for 11 and 12 grade students.

Art’s Management:

  • Art’s Management helps a student become involved with the management of business and arts.

Multimedia and Video Design; Desktop Publishing; Programming – Visual and Basic; Game Design & App Design; Web Page Design & HTML CSS; 2D Animation; Digital Citizenship / Youtube; Chromebook Desk; AP Advanced Computer Science:

  • In Multimedia and Video Design students will work with photos, sound files, and videos.
  • Desktop Publishing will help students design documentation and create many other things.
  • Programming is a course that teaches students basic computer programming.
  • Game Design & App Design will teach students everything necessary to know how to create games and apps.
  • Web Page Design & HTML CSS will teach students how to create a website as well as everything needed to go into it.
  • In 2D Animation, students will learn about animation and special effects.
  • Digital Citizenship / Youtube will teach students how to be safe online.
  • For the Chromebook Desk, students will help repair Chromebooks. These are all 1 semester classes for 10 through 12 grade students.
  • AP Advanced Computer Science teaches computer and science technology and is a 2 semester course.

Intro to FACS; Nutrition, Food, and Wellness; Food Preparation and Nutrition for Life; Chemistry of Food:

  • Intro to FACS will teach students basic material needed for life as an adult. This is a 2 semester course for 10 through 12 grade students.
  • Nutrition, Food, and Wellness will teach students to make the right decisions about nutrition and daily life. This is a 1 semester course for 10 through 12 grade students.
  • Food Preparation and Nutrition for Life builds on nutrition, food, and wellness, however, it will be a little more difficult. This is a 1 semester course for 10 through 12 grade students.
  • Chemistry of Food teaches students how chemistry relates to food through science labs. It is a 1 semester course for 12 grade students.

Parenting and Child Development; Surviving and Thriving Adulthood; Marriage and Family Living:

  • Parenting and Child Development helps students learn how to take care of children. This is a 1 semester course for 10 through 12 grade students.
  • Surviving and Thriving Adulthood is a course to help prepare students for adulthood. This is a 1 semester course for 12 grade students.
  • Marriage and Family Living teaches students about their future families.

AP Desktop / Digital Graphics; AP Multimedia and Image Management Techniques; AP Digital Editing and Production Photography; Desktop Publishing Capstone; Marketing Education; Accounting; Business Management / Ownership:

  • Ap Desktop / Digital Graphics teaches students about art and photography as well as digital graphics using different programs. This is a 2 semester course for 10 through 12 grade students.
  • AP Multimedia and Image Management Techniques helps students with different types of art, illustration, and web design. It is a 2 semester course for 11 and 12 grade students.
  • AP Digital Editing and Production Photography teaches students about art and web design as well. It is a 2 semester course for 11 and 12 grade students.
  • Desktop Publishing Capstone helps students learn how to work in photography, art, or design. This is a 2 semester class for 12 grade students.
  • Marketing Education teaches students about marketing, promotion, and more. This is a 2 semester class for 10 through 12 grade students.
  • Accounting teaches basic skills and knowledge of accounting and business ownership. This is a 2 semester class for 12 grade students.
  • Business Management / Ownership is an introductory course with helpful skills for those wanting to own or manage a business. This is a 2 semester course for 11 and 12 grade students.

Agricultural Education:

  • There are 11 different agriculture courses at the high school. These teach a variety of things including animal and plant sciences, veterinary medicine, livestock, electronics, greenhouses, building, and more. These range from different semesters and grades.

Physical Education; Weightlifting; Aerobics; Couch to 5K:

  • Physical Education provides students with different types of physical activity throughout the class time. This is a 1 semester course for 9 through 12 grade students.
  • Weightlifting is to improve students in any physical activity or even for themselves. This is a 1 semester course for 9 through 12 grade students.
  • Aerobics is a fun and challenging class to help students self esteem. This is a 1 semester course for 9 through 12 grade students.
  • Couch to 5K will help inactive students soon be able to jog a 5K.
