With Sadie’s right around the corner, proposals have been happening almost every day. For those who don’t know the Sadie Hawkins dance is a school dance where the girls ask the guys. And the girls have been stepping up their proposal game this year.
Generally the proposals are a cheesy or cute line that is displayed on a poster, or on something fun and creative.
“My Sadie Hawkins proposal this year was an Aladdin theme,” senior Iman Knox said. “I came up with the idea because Matt, my boyfriend, absolutely loves Aladdin so I thought it’d be really neat to use that theme for our last sadies together. I went out and bought a rug for our ‘magic carpet ride,’ dressed as princess Jasmine, and played the song “A Whole New World” as he walked up to me. When he pulled up to my house his face instantly lit up and he couldn’t stop cheesing.”
People use stuff that they have in common with the person they’re asking.
“Drew is a lifeguard over the summer and I’m planning on being one too so that’s how I had the idea to do a lifeguard themed proposal,” senior Piper Pittman said. “I had our friend Isaac invite us and our other friends to his house for a Super Bowl party and I asked him if we could hot tub as well. So I talked to Drew’s mom and she got me his lifeguard tank top and my mom and I made the sign and stuff. While we were hot tubbing I went into the house and got the signs and tank top and walked out blowing a whistle and I asked him.”
Some people came up with the ultimate proposal.
“Reina used a Disney themed proposal and asked me in front of the castle at Disney World,” senior Grady Coppage said. “I loved it, it was amazing, best Sadie’s proposal ever, no one could possibly top that. I was super shocked, but it was awesome, it was the highlight of my trip to Florida.”
Coming up with a creative way to ask someone to the dance just added to the fun.
