The Broken Arrow Bands are going to be performing their first concert on Oct. 15 at the BAPAC. Students have been preparing for their performance since the start of the school year, and senior Athen Klein is ready to show what they have learned.

“I am pumped to show everyone what we’ve been working on since school has started,” Klein said. “It takes a lot of concentration to make everyone work together, but in the end, the outcome makes everything worth it.”

Symphonic band member Malik Althouse is another senior that is going to be performing in the concerts. The symphonic band 2 will be playing different pieces for the crowd during the concert.

“We are playing two pieces, one of them is called Concert Variations, and the other is Colonel Bogey,” Althouse said. “I hope that everyone will enjoy listening to them as much as we like playing them.”

Wind ensemble band member Colin Watson will be performing in the concert as well. All the bands have worked to make sure they will perform well at the BAPAC.

“My favorite part about the band concerts is showing off all the hard work and rehearsal we have put in,” Watson said. “Hearing the crowd cheer for us at the end is worth all the work it took to have a good performance.”

The bands practice every day to work on the pieces that will be played during the concert. Both the band students and the director work together to make sure the piece will be played correctly.

“We practice every school day during band class preparing each of the pieces, so they’ll sound good during the concert,” Althouse said. “We have to make sure the whole band works together, including the director.”

Make sure to come and support the Broken Arrow bands by coming to the concert at the Performing Arts Center on Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.
