Students and teachers help out at the 8th Annual Chili Cook-off

Every year, the school hosts a Chili Cook-off and silent auction to help raise money for the Special Olympics team at the high school. Many students and teachers attend the event every year. Mrs. Gould is the teacher who organizes the event each year. She encourages anyone and everyone to come to have a great time and to support a great cause.

“Our annual chili cook-off and auction is always a fun time,” Gould said. “We will have raffle tickets, celebrity guest judges, and of course lots of chili to share, and the auction items are wonderful this year also.”

Mrs. Gould has set high expectations for this year’s fundraiser and hopes to have a very successful event. If the goal is reached, the trip to the Special Olympics will be completely funded.

“My goal for the fundraiser this year is to bring in over $10,000, I know that seems like a lot, but it’s what we need in order to fund our trips this year and I’m certain we’ll get that,” Gould said.

Senior Cassidy Green attended the cook-off last year and was happy to be a part of something that makes a difference in the lives of everyone benefiting from it. She encourages students to go and support a wonderful cause that will be a blessing to all the Special Olympics athletes.

“I attended the Chili Cook-off last year, and my favorite part was seeing all the athletes together with smiles on their faces,” Green said. “It’s an amazing cause and seeing the joy on the kid’s faces is something I will never forget.”

The Chili Cook-off and silent auction are going to be on Friday, Feb. 8 at 6:00 pm in the Centennial Middle School cafeteria. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased by contacting Mrs. Gould at, or they can be purchased at the door.
