The Broken Arrow show choirs are wrapping up their competition seasons. All middle schools and the freshman academy have their own show choirs. The high school has two, a coed and a women’s. Each choir has their own competition set and are ready to show them off to the community. There will be an All BA show choir concert on Tuesday, April 4 to show these sets.
Junior Grace Pere is an alto two in Tiger Mystique. Alto two is the lowest voice part in the choir.
“My favorite song in our set is “Fire Under My Feet,” I love the message of female empowerment,” Pere said.
Pere first auditioned for show choir at the end of her freshman year. After seeing how much fun all of her friends were having she decided she wanted to try it as well. Pere plans to do show choir again her senior year.
Junior Cloey Patterson is a second soprano in Tiger Rhythm. Being a second soprano, Patterson sings the middle voice part. Right below the first sopranos, and above the altos. Tiger Rhythm’s competition show is called “A Weekend Walk In The Park.” The songs set the theme for a lazy sunday with a loved one.
“It’s always so rewarding to get off stage after a performance and hearing your loved ones telling you that now they see why you enjoy doing show choir so much,” Patterson said.
Tiger Rhythm’s set includes “A Boy and A Girl,” “Walking Stick,” “Lazy Day,” “Sunday,” “The Weekend,” “Feelin’ Good,” and “Backyard Party.”
This is sophomore Erin Garrison’s first year in show choir. She is a second soprano in Tiger Mystique. Her favorite song in Mystique’s set is “Quiet” because everyone can relate to it but they all relate in different ways.
“I’m so excited for our families and friends to see our sets,” Garrison said, “we’ve been working so hard on them since September and it’s going to be great to see everyone’s reaction to it.”
Tiger Mystique’s set is titled “I Like to Dance,” and is centered around having a good time with your friends. The set includes “Victorious,” “Boogie Wonderland,” “Quiet,” “Fire Under My Feet,” and “I Like to Dance.”
Those interested in seeing Broken Arrow’s show choirs can see their performance on Apr. 4 at 7 p.m at the Broken Arrow PAC. Admission is free. Auditions are coming up for those who are interested in being in show choir next year, they are April. 24-27, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
